Ss. Mary and John Catholic Primary School
Ss Mary and John Catholic Primary School

Introduction

Ss. Mary and John’s Catholic Primary School was opened to its first pupil on 24th August 1931 in what was the social club, to serve the Parish of Ss. Mary and John’s.

From this date the school was moved into a site on the same land as the church. When numbers continued to rise, further space was needed and a second building was placed on Beaufort Road.

The school has grown over the past 95 years and is now a thriving two form entry school welcoming approximately 450 children from Nursery to Year 6. It is currently a split-site school with Early Years and Key Stage 1 located on Gravelly Hill and Key Stage 2 located on Beaufort Road. The two sites are linked through a gated pathway for the families on Gravelly Hill.

Ss. Mary and John’s Catholic Primary School has strong links with the Parish. Our children have the opportunity to lead masses throughout the year; these can be on a week day or at the weekend. Our children are very well supported by families and parishioners throughout their faith journey including Sacramental preparation.

Our school mission is ‘Working together with God to achieve a better future for everyone.’

Ss. Mary and John’s Catholic Primary School aims to develop our faith links with our parish and school community.

  • Our school is committed to the widest and fullest education of all pupils in a partnership between home, school, parish and community.
  • Our school is a welcoming and caring environment that aims for all members of our community to feel safe, valued and show respect for each other.

We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our school community.
