Reading at home

During lockdown, it is really important that all children are continuing to read often. For children in EYFS and Year 1, they should be accessing a daily phonics lesson online which will help them to build up their reading skills. There will also be regular storytime session videos posted by their teachers.

All other children need to be regularly reading to continue to build up their fluency and comprehenison skills while continuing to grow a love of reading.

On this page, you will find links to websites where you can access free eBooks and audio books for children to read online.

There are also some top tips for how you can help your child with reading at home and these have been translated into different home languages.

Reading Challenge: In preparation for world book day, we are going to complete our very own book challenge! There are 20 different challenges and activities all about reading which you can complete at home over the next few weeks with links to online books to help. We have uploaded the challenge to class blogs and class pages on the website so have a look and see if you can complete the challenge by 8th March. Any completed challenges or tasks can be uploaded to the class blogs on Purple Mash or emailed to your teachers! We can't wait to see who wins!
